Dock Plates
Intended for lighter loads (up to 12,000 lbs.), dock plates act as a bridge between the loading dock and a trailer. Bluff Manufacturing’s dock plates are usually constructed of aluminum so they’re lightweight, portable, and designed to be moved around your workspace. Standard widths are 36, 48, 60, and 72 inches and lengths range from 36 to 60 inches. These should only be used with pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, and other non-powered applications.
Dock plates have built-in hand holes, but can also be moved with:
E-Z Roll Handles: Telescoping handles that allow a person (not a forklift) to move the dock plate to where you need it.
Lifting chains: Use a forklift to move the dock plate to where you need it.
Dock Boards
Like dock plates, dock boards are intended to be portable. However, they’re much stronger and can withstand the weight of heavy machinery and vehicle traffic like forklifts. They’re available in capacities from 10,000 to 40,000 lbs., widths of 60 to 84 inches, and lengths of 36 to 120 inches, depending on model. Dock boards have steel curbs on either side to prevent run-off and depending on your needs, different models have fixed leg design, fold-down lifting loops, fork cutouts on the leading edge, and more.
